Zoo Visitor

I love to visit zoo's. The better the enviroments and enclosures for the animals, the greater it is too walk around. I enjoy looking and photographing all the different kinds of animals.
The painting above "Eyes of the Wilderness" III, is based on photos I took at Ree-park in Denmark.

Here's some tips for our zoo visits:

New prints

New prints at my Imagekind-shop (most interesting for customers outside of Europe).

These images in a contemporary style, looks great as canvasprint wrapped on a frame. A unique style for great artwork in your home.

I hope to be able to offer this type of wall-art for European customers - I am currently trying to find possibilities ;)

Friesian horse

I really am amazed of the beauty of friesian horses. I love their beautiful appearance and colors, and wonderful manes!

The reference photo, I took at an agricultural market several years ago. I took photos of many of the different horses there, but friesian is one of my top-favorites.

I had several ideas what to do, but eventually decided for a loose watercolorpainting.
I painted on 640 gsm Saunderswaterford. I love heavy wc-paper, as the lighter ones, despite brand, often "curls" too much for me. The painting is 35,5 x 63 cm.

Placement designs at Spreadshirt

I have a small selection of t-shirts with my designs, but even more placementdesigns, to be placed on products of your own choise. Spreadshirt has many products to buy.

Here are some examples of motifs in my shop, but even more are for sale on the Marketplace at spreadshirt, which means, they will appear when using searchwords, when you want to place an illustration on a product ;)

Bamboo Colors - close up

In connection with my last post, showing "Bamboo Colors" I here present a close-up.

That is to show something I love about watercolors. The "accidential" flow of colors. I write accidential in quotations marks, as you can, of cause, use them purposely.

I think it adds very interesting areas in the painting. Even I write you can use this effect purposely, some of the charm for the painter is, that you cannot really predict how it will look!

Some of the result is seen in this close-up :)

Bamboo Colors

"Bamboo colors" is my latest watercolor painting.
I am deeply fascinated by plants. I love flowers, but green plants, leaves, roots, seeds etc.
are just as interesting to me.
Bamboo is one of my favorite plants / grasses in the garden. And I love the impressive, large bamboo I can see on a visit to a Rainforest Zoo in my area.
As my "Banana Fantasia" motif "Bamboo Colors" is a mix of realism and expression. There are lots of colors in the plants when you look closely. I've used the colors I see quite freely.

T-shirts

Dress up your child or small familymembers or friends children; baby- and toodler t-shirts with cute whales  :)

Weekly review

My review for this week is a botanical: "Hidden Beauty".

Even I am facinated by waterlilly-flowers; while painting this, I actually found the most interesting to depict was the large leaves and the look of what is "under the water". The textures and play of sun and shadow of the leaves was facinating to paint, and going below water great to try too :)

I am very happy with this piece. I did enter it into a couple of shows some years ago, but it wasn't placed in any.

It took more that 40 hours to complete.

Original 22,4 x 32,8 cm.

Banana Fantasia

I've just finished this painting "Banana Fantasia."
Painted with watersolouble colored pencils.

The painting is kept in the illustrative style - like the white background, but the subject is a completely free interpretation of the plant :) - as you can also read from the title :)

I enjoyed painting this, being able to use my imagination, and still get a finished design that is very naturalistic and in the botanical illustration style.

The image is sent to the annual member show at Ann Kullbergs magazine for colored pencil artists. I will return with links etc from there.

Watersoluble colored pencil on watercolor paper. 25x38 cm.

Shop t-shirts etc with my designs

Weekly review

"Performance of power" is a colored pencil drawing.
I like the lions attitude, taken from a referencephoto I took at a zoo.

It was the first drawing I did on Hahnemuhle Nostalgia paper, and I like it very much for cp. It is smooth but still graps the cp's very well. It will take some wetting (I did not use zest-it/turpenoid for this one) even its just 190 gsm.
The original is 29 x 42 cm.
