Weekly review

"All tied up for the Show" was a graphitedrawing I loved to draw and found very succesfull.

It also did well, as it was judged into EX Arte Equinus II. An International Equine Art Competition presented by Art Horse Magazine in 2008.

The drawing was on display at my local artgroup Easterexhibition in 2011, and people liked it very much.

Original 22 x 32 cm.

Tip: Keeping filecards

As my body of work grew, I really wanted a system to keep track of all the drawings and paintings I had produced, those that are a succesfull piece of artwork, that is.

I used to have lists on my computer but this system of "old-fashioned" filecards are so easy to make, maintain and very manageable, it excells all my earlier types of lists.

On the computer, I have made a template with 2 filecards on each. I print on heavy card.
The writing as you can see above, and then I place a thumbnail of the artwork in top right side. Once in my box on my shelf, it is so easy to flip through the files that are sat in alfabethic order.

All the writing beside the headlines, I do by hand, as I sometimes have to alter or erase information.

Especially I find it quick to track info about competitions and shows the piece was entered into, but also size, paper etc. when someone ask that information.

I found a suitable small box originally meant to hold recipies, and now it is so easy to keep track of things :)

Weekly review

Yet another dogdrawing in this weeks reveiw: My graphite drawing of a harlequin-colored great dane. A breed I am fascinated by. The reference photo is from a dogshow where I went photo-shooting, and I felt his expression was excellent to draw.
Original 19.5 x 30.5 cm

I was very proud, that my Great Dane drawing was chosen as Editors choise by Mike Sibley at Starving Artists in 2009. It is a honour as Mike is the graphite artists I admire the most !

Cozy cats - sunnygrey cat

I have finished my catpainting: "Sunnygrey cat", no. 2 painting in the Cozy Cats series.

I am not good at coming back to unfinished artwork if too long time has passed. And I wanted to finish this, before spending the next month on exhibition artwork.

I had planned to do this in watercolor and colored pencil, but ended up almost exclusivly with watercolors.

Ideas, planning

Well, it should not all be reviews on my blog :) But I am busy, at least at the planning stage.

I still have to get some more work done for the Easter-exhibition. If you are an artist yourself, you will know, that not all you start will be a succes. I spent my monday painting ... for the bin. But thats how it goes sometimes.

I do have some ideas that excites me to get started, and in the middle of that, my sister requests a painting for a special gift - in april ! Oh my, I must try to work 2 pieces at one time now....
I look forward to what will be a collage in acrylics with flatcoated retrievers.

I will post as soon as I have more to show you!
