Dalmatian - wip

More progress on Sigurd, the dalmatian.

I have been correcting the highlight on his left eye (our view), as I suspect it was not just the sun reflecting in his eye on the reference photo.

Dalmatian - wip

An update on the dalmatian - Sigurd.

Started painting in those beautiful spots :)

"Flying mouse?" - playful kitten

I let you have a small view of this earlier, but now it is finished.

The model is one of the kittens we had - now an adult cat.

I don't remember what she reached for initially, but I put in the mouse-toy and with the title, made up a little story.

Dry pastels and pastelpencils on velourpaper

Dalmatian - wip

From the human point of view the eyes are the most important facial feature in a portrait, so I've now started drawing them + the surrounding area

Dalmatian - wip

As I wrote here, I held an on-line portrait-competition for my danish readers.

My daughter pulled the winning number - it was a lovely dalmatian, Sigurd.

I have now started drawing. I outlined the dog by tracing, and now the fun part have started!

I think, I have started with the most important feature dog-wise, don't you think ;)

This will be in graphite, size A5.

Little kittie

If you wonder what happend to my Irish wolfhound drawing, I have to say a small kitten managed to place itself first in line :)

Here is just a small piece of the - not yet finished - painting. It is for a competition, I'll show you later.

But that's what put the doggies on hold.

And not just that. I recently had a competion in Denmark, so there is also a portrait to come first. That's a dog, though. A lovely looking dalmation.

Dog festival

I am home from the dog festival. As you can see on the pic, my booth is quite simple. But with the few show possibilities in Denmark, it has to do.

It turned out to be a smaller, local event, but I had some fine response. A lot of people came over to look and have a talk.

No commission-deals, but I never had that on spot. Perhaps - as all my businesscards was gone - I'll get some later.

I sold cards and I was very happy with that.
We just avoided heavy rain, that started when we drove home.

Dog festival

Tomorrow I am invited to have a booth at a Dog Festival - first ever of this particular festival.
I am sponsoring a giftcard for a portrait to a winner on the event.

There will be many different dog-activities; flyball, agility, obedience, kids with dogs show etc.

I am looking forward to participate, even I do not expect to get many new commissions. At least my experience tells me, there will be none to few... but who knows. There will be - I guess - more ordinary dog-owners than at a proff. agilityshow or kennelklub-show.

I have been printing, cutting, folding and putting a lot of cards in small plastic-bags. I hope to sell some of those at least.

Anyway, I look forward to see a lot of lovely dogs, and perhaps I have time to take a few shots too :)

Pastel paper test

I have several kinds of pastel papers and wanted to make tests on them.
Just for my own reference, and for both pastels and colored pencils.
I will share it with you though, but please bare in mind, that I have just made small quick tests on each paper involved.
To really test supports, you have to make several finished pieces of artwork, and I did that before on some of the papers. This makes my tests on: Velourpaper, Pastelmat, Fabriane Tiziano and Ingress more proven. But anyway, this test indicates how I feel about all the papers.

The supports I have tested so far are;

Fisher 400
Pastelmat from Clairfontaine
Velourpaper
Pastelcard from Sennelier
more to come includes:
Fabriano Tiziano
Canson Ingres
Colorfix Art spectrum
and others

Link to test.
Each paper/support has its own page.
Horizional you read the media tested (pastelpencils, soft pastels etc.), and on the vertical are the category of questions.

Website down

My newly announced website is down, and I do not know for how long.

The whole freewebsite.dk site seems to have problems, I do not know - as I cannot get into contact with them - if this is temporary or for good.

I do have links here on A-zoo to my galleries and petportrait-pages and links directly to my shops.

UPDATE: the website is now on again ;)

Winner of my portrait competition - DK only

I am happy to announce the winner in my portrait competition. DK only.
Please go to my danish portraitcompetition website, animalportrait blog or A Zoo website News, where the competition was announced. It has been announced in Danish only.

A new website

I have been satisfied with Google Pages for years for my website. The pages was recently converted to the new Google Sites. (Google Pages closed down).

After having enough trouble to make my site work in that inviroment, I have now moved my homepage to a new location:

I will miss some features, but at least I can make it work, when I have changes etc.
You're welcome for a visit :)
